Traditional Knowledge
Curriculum themes are organized around the seasons. The traditional activities our ancestors lived are incorporated into all areas of the curriculum. Stories and beliefs are passed through the language form the oral histories of our elders. Students get a unique view of the world through Salish. |

Social Studies
Place in time and place in location are important subjects taught to the children. Students learn about Salish history
through the many oral histories about the past

Cultural Leadership
The students are instructed to respect all things around. They are presented with challenges that built their leadership skills in a cultural context. Students are expected to give presentations to various organizations as a way to promote Salish identity, language and culture.

Math
Math concepts are easier to understand in Salish. The counting system includes addition and multiplication. Students
receive a full rigorous math curriculum that ties
into the overall themes of all subjects. |

Language Arts
Students are taught reading and writing skills in Salish. These skills readily transfer to English once it is formally taught. Oral language skills include storytelling, public speaking and presentations. |

Salish Language
By far Salish is the most important subject taught. Salish permeates every subject and topic in our curriculum. Students are expected to be proficient in using the language within one year. Salish grammar and thought structure are taught to students above grade one. |

Science
Science through the Salish view includes the discovery of the all things around us. The life cycle of plants and animals is taught through direct instruction and through stories. Salish describes all things through it's interactions with surroundings. |
Environmental knowledge
Students are shown and taught the uses of many native plants from the edible to the medicinal. Students are instructed on the interconnectedness of all living things. Through the language students get an intimate understanding of the environment and its many landforms.
